Challenge to solve:
Traditional VR systems often lacked realistic touch feedback, limiting the sense of immersion for users. AVR Japan aimed to address this challenge by incorporating haptic technology into their CAVE system, enabling users to not only see and hear, but to now also feel and interact with virtual objects as if they were tangible.
Implementation of haptic gloves:
AVR Japan partnered with SenseGlove to enhance their CAVE system with haptic gloves, specifically the SenseGlove Nova. This integration aimed to provide users with a tactile and immersive experience, allowing them to touch, feel, and manipulate virtual objects within the three-dimensional space generated by the CAVE system.
The results:
The implementation of the SenseGlove Nova allowed users to control the content projected on the CAVE, providing yet another sense (touch) to experience in this virtual environment. Haptic gloves allow for enhanced immersion, realistic touch feedback, increased user engagement and diverse applications.
