Implementation of haptic gloves
The Nova 2 haptic gloves, in combination with other VR hardware, were used to achieve a seamless and precise experience from a distance. The gloves allowed users to teleoperate the robotic hand, attempting to carefully manipulate the egg with dexterity. With the force feedback and vibrotactile capabilities of the gloves, users could not only handle the egg, but also feel the pressure being applied to it. This allowed them to adjust their grip in real-time to avoid crushing it or dropping it.
The results
Using the Nova 2 to control the robotic hand, users successfully grasped the egg from a distance with outstanding precision. The integration of haptics made the experience more intuitive and effective, allowing for better control of even the most fragile of objects. This achievement opens up multiple possibilities for integrating haptics in teleoperation across various fields, including healthcare, manufacturing, and training.
